By Rev. Mark E. Vatcher
On fire for Jesus, I heard it many times in my life. I felt it when I asked Jesus
to save me and cleanse me of all my sins. As It is written (
Rev 3:20) “Here I am!
I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I
will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” I remember the day I made the
decision to receive Christ as my Saviour. I Confessed to God that being a
sinner, and believing that the Lord Jesus Christ died for my sins on the cross
and was raised up for my justification, and confessed Him to be my personal
Saviour. What a glorious feeling it was having been liberated from all of my sin
and filled with the Spirit, having been filled by the Holy Spirit forever and
always in this life and the everlasting life to come. That was when I realized the
fire burning inside of me for Jesus. It was an overwhelming feeling of pure
enthusiasm for the Word. A thirst never to be quenched, a hunger never
satisfied.

Some of you may be on fire in your hearts for the Lord right now. Some of you
may remember the fire that burned in your hearts when you took Jesus into
your heart for the first time. Oh how passionate you felt about the Word of God.
It consumed you day and night, the fire burned in you with deep love and
desire. Fervent prayer rolled out of you giving praise, and thanksgiving for all
things to the Lord. And then at some point maybe the flame seemed to die
down a little. The passion for the Word dwindled, was still there but yet it was
not the same as it had been. What is it my beloved? Where did it go? How do I
get it back? Well, it never left you. (
Heb 13:5) I will leave you nor forsake you”.
You have partaken in the fruit of the Spirit and felt the glory of God. (
John 7:38)
“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, `From his innermost being will
flow rivers of living water.” Does rivers of living water flow out of you? Do you
glow from your innermost spirit, so that Gods love glows in you and can be seen
by those around you. If not, you may have moved away from the fire, becoming
consumed with the earthy things in your life. God wants you to be concerned
with everlasting life not you’re here and now life. The everlasting life promised
to you through the blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. When we stray
from God, this is what happens. When we stop trusting in God, there is a loss
of our faith in Him that He will tend to our every need. The fire starts to
dwindle and needs to be rekindled. Move closer to God and He will move closer
to you brethren. It seems that at some point life overwhelms us and we get so
wrapped up in it that we lose ourselves in it. Well we forget the one thing that
we had when our fire burned hot and heavy in us for the Lord. It is that trust
in God for all things, let go and again return to the trust in all things through
Him. For it is written “does He not provide for even the  birds”, move closer to
God and He will move closer to you. Rekindle and reaffirm your faith. Pray with
all praise, thanksgiving, and forgiveness. Give to Him both the honor and glory
He is do. Let us Pray…
